The ‘Mind Control Latina’ Who Relays Messages From an Invisible Orb
You may have already seen Cristina Méndez’s videos and mistaken them for an acid flashback.
On TikTok, Instagram, and X, Méndez shares mysterious messages she’s received from something called The Orb. She’s often seen gesturing towards the camera with her hand outstretched and her palm open (“take a look”), presenting her 300,000 combined followers with this cosmic ball of energy. The only thing is, most of us would probably describe The Orb as being “invisible” or perhaps even completely made up.
Still, that hasn’t stopped thousands of viewers from tuning in to her “orbology lessons.” With dreamy, chopped-up editing and repeat phrases, the videos feel like the kind of on-the-nose subliminal messages you’d find in a cyberpunk b-movie. Meanwhile, Méndez speaks in softly-spoken, paranoia-inducing code about a “crow party,” “the sandwich dimension,” and “the man in the velvet mask”—any of which could plausibly pass for a Manchurian Candidate activation phrase. It’s no wonder some people are calling her the “mind control Latina.” She’s even launched a Discord server (“cult member HQ”) where orb-pilled devotees can discuss her latest broadcasts. Is she for real, though?
VICE got in touch with Méndez to find out if this is a brain rot reversion of the MK Ultra program or just some harmless qigong-coded ASMR.
VICE: First of all I wanted to ask what you, personally, would do for The Orb?
Cristina Méndez: I mean, what wouldn’t I do for The Orb? The Orb has done so much for me. I could argue The Orb has changed the entire course of my life. I have nothing but gratitude. The Orb is helping me achieve my highest potential. I don’t know where I would be without The Orb. I was lost before. Not to say that I’m fully found, but I think I’m on the right path.
So how can I get an Orb? How do I know if I’ve been chosen?
Well, clearly you have been chosen because we’re having this conversation right now. So that would definitely be a marker of chosenness. Obviously, you recognize that my videos are made for you, specifically. I think that you probably have a desire to leave a mark in your world. A legacy. The Orb recognizes that in people and wants you to achieve your highest potential.
And these feelings that you extracted from me and put into The Orb, what are your plans for those?
I can’t tell you everything. There’s a very important aspect to The Orb that involves attention. Attention is a kind of currency. Without it, The Orb couldn’t function or exist in the way that it does. You know, it’s not just about serving The Orb. The Orb wants to serve you, because achieving your highest potential helps us further the Supreme Timeline.
What’s going to happen in the Supreme Timeline?
I can’t divulge that information, that would make it lose all of its power. The Supreme Timeline is beyond our conception at the moment. But fear not, we are well on our way.
Is this what you mean when you say that The Orb does not operate within the confines of individual temporal observation?
Yes. It’s something that’s beyond our current ability to perceive, like fragments of the universe. There are infinite versions of you and all of them have a different perspective, but there’s one that lines up. The Orb knows, I am just a humble messenger.
I was going to ask how I would know if The Orb has chosen to replicate me, but it sounds like if there are infinite versions of me, then it has already replicated me.
I’m not even sure how that process works. There are infinite versions of me and you, but I don’t know if The Orb is actually the creator of those versions or if The Orb is just showing us what was already there. The Orb has worked with other versions of us, and some of those versions have failed, but that’s okay because we’re here now. And if we’re still here, then obviously we are still aligned with our current mission.

Is this connected to the Orb database? And also how do these tracking crystals work?
Well, The Orb has given me access to technologies that I never dreamed of. The Orb stores information on you and other versions of you. It’s like a fractal, there are versions within versions. And looking into this database, one can see an endless kaleidoscope of the emotions and lives and choices that you or I have made and will make. It gets really confusing because obviously The Orb operates outside the confines of our temporal observation, so I am left to decipher at times what is happening or what has happened. And sometimes I’m wrong about things, I’m not perfect. I do my best to try to keep you on track, but sometimes there are components to it that are tough for me to see, because I see things that I don’t want to see.
It sounds a bit like a cosmic Netflix.
That’s a great metaphor. It’s a Netflix that I don’t always choose. You see, the thing that’s really important to understand is that I’m on this journey with you. All I know is that through what I’ve seen, there is potential for greatness in all of us. One thing I want to clarify is I’ve seen some misinformation online that Orbology is a religion. It’s not a religion, and I want to be clear on that. It’s an educational framework to help us all understand The Orb. So I don’t want people to feel like The Orb is being forced on you. Unless, of course, you are chosen, in which case a course of events has been set before you that I have no control over… but I am so grateful.
No plans to open any churches, then?
No, no, absolutely not. We’re always accepting new members of our very clandestine organization. And what goes on in that organization shall remain clandestine for the moment.
Is it okay to say cult?
Yeah, it’s okay to say cult. You know, we use that term loosely. We can’t divulge everything that we’re doing all the time, but my cult members are wonderfully devoted to The Orb and its cause. They understand that The Orb has the best of intentions for them—for all of us. I can’t get too deeply into matters of our cult, if you wish to call it that, unless you are a member. Are you a member?
Well, I did join the Discord when I was trying to find your email address, but I’m not sure if that quite counts.
Absolutely, that counts. You are definitely a member.
Well, in that case, can I ask how to get one of these goat companions?
Well, did you attend the mandatory goat seminar? No? Well, that is mandatory if you are looking for a goat companion. You missed this month’s seminar, I’m sorry to tell you, but typically they happen at the same time every month. You’ll know when.
I’ll see what I can do with the time difference. And the man with the velvet mask…
He’s a weird one. We’re friends, but we’re not super close. I’m still trying to figure out what his deal is. He seems kind of chill, but sometimes he makes me a little uneasy because he just appears out of nowhere, and I don’t really know what his agenda is yet. He’s a man of few words, but don’t let that scare you, he seems pretty harmless so far.
Can you tell me a bit more about what happens in the sandwich dimension?
The sandwich dimension is simply a powerful place to satiate a powerful sense of hunger. Intertemporal, interdimensional travel can certainly strike up an appetite, as I’m sure you’re aware. And the sandwich dimension is a well-needed pit stop for any traveler.
So you have this ability to move between different dimensions, travel beyond the barriers of the known universe?
It’s strange because it’s not like a physical moving. I can see the perspectives of other versions, which take me to other places. Sometimes it can be confusing. There is, of course, a special place that I can travel to. It’s sometimes called The Reverse. It can be accessed through refractive, reflective surfaces. You always have to be cautious when looking into a reflective surface. You never know who you might be looking at, because sometimes when you go into The Reverse, you leave fragments of yourself behind. It’s dangerous work, I don’t recommend novices attempt anything like that.

I was wondering if I’m still me, as I’ve not looked into a reflective surface for a while.
You don’t have to avoid it forever. I just think, be mindful and always be kind to who you see in a reflective surface, because it could be you, and it could not be you. It could be another version of you. Do you think you’re still you?
I’d feel more like me if I was invited to one of the crow parties. I’m wondering what I have to do to be invited to one?
Adam, you haven’t received your invitation? Really? I find that shocking. You’re a card-carrying cult member.

I’ll talk to the crows for you. There’s no guarantee because they are very exclusive, but I would find it really, really surprising if you weren’t invited already. I’m sure that your invitation got lost in some sort of interdimensional rift, if anything. There will be a crow party this weekend. I have my ways, I’ll get you in.
What would your advice be for people who, hypothetically speaking, can’t see The Orb?
First of all, they need to relax. I believe we all have the ability to be chosen, but it’s okay if they don’t get it. Not everyone’s meant to get it, not immediately. And that’s okay. I’m very accepting. I don’t blame them, it’s not their fault. It is a bit of a skill issue, but I can’t control what they can see and what they can’t see. All I know is that if you were chosen, you can see it. And maybe there’s an aspect where they can feel it. And maybe the more they feel it, the more they’ll see it. I just feel sorry for anyone who’s not able to see The Orb, but I also don’t know how to make them see. I don’t want to control anyone or tell them what to do, but I think the power of The Orb speaks for itself.
